On June 24, Shandong Heavy Industry Group and ZF Friedrichshafen AG jointly held a Technology Exchange Day at the Shandong Heavy Industry Future Technology Tower. The two sides conducted in-depth discussions on innovation in the off-highway sector, product development, and global collaboration. Mr. Wang Zhijian, Deputy Party Secretary and General Manager of Shandong Heavy Industry Group, and Mr. Andreas Moser, Executive Vice President of ZF Group and Head of the Industrial Technology Division, attended the symposium.
Mr. Wang Zhijian extended a warm welcome to the ZF delegation. He noted that ZF, as a globally renowned technology company, has long driven industrial development through innovation. Over the years, Shandong Heavy Industry Group and ZF have established deep-rooted cooperation in the commercial vehicle and off-highway sectors, making ZF one of the Group’s most important global strategic partners. He highlighted that the Group has seen rapid growth in the sales of high-end products such as large-power excavators, electric wheel loaders, high-horsepower tractors, and marine power systems. Looking ahead, he expressed hope that both parties would further strengthen cooperation in traditional off-highway products such as transmissions and drive axles, while accelerating the joint exploration and application of electrified solutions—including hybrid and fully electric drivetrains—for construction machinery, agricultural equipment, and marine applications. Together, the two companies aim to develop leading-edge competitive advantages and expand into global high-end markets.
Mr. Andreas Moser provided an overview of ZF Group and its Industrial Technology Division. He remarked that ZF and Shandong Heavy Industry have maintained over four decades of partnership in the commercial vehicle field, setting a model for cross-border industrial collaboration. He praised Shandong Heavy Industry as a leading Chinese multinational in high-end equipment manufacturing and reaffirmed ZF’s position as a global technology leader in off-highway driveline systems. ZF is committed to providing its global partners with a stable supply chain, cutting-edge technical solutions, a robust global network, and strong brand value. Given the alignment in strategic direction and the solid foundation of cooperation, he stated that ZF will continue to offer comprehensive industrial technology solutions and global support to power Shandong Heavy Industry’s internationalization strategy.
Prior to the meeting, both parties toured ZF’s off-highway product technology exhibition. ZF showcased several globally leading products, including front steering axles for wheeled excavators, power-shift transmissions, and drive gearboxes.
In the afternoon, the technical teams from both sides held dedicated business discussions on transmission system solutions for construction machinery, agricultural machinery, and marine applications.
This technology exchange event marks a new starting point for expanding cooperation between Shandong Heavy Industry and ZF in the off-highway sector. Looking forward, the two companies will continue to deepen collaboration, pursue technological breakthroughs, jointly explore global markets, and address industry challenges together. By promoting strategic upgrades and sustainable development in off-highway technologies, the partnership aims to lead the industry toward a smarter, more efficient, and greener future.
